About Heart of Nature Therapies

Heart of Nature Therapies has been evolving since 2016, when I trained as Children's Yoga Ambassador with Mini Me Yoga.

As a parent of a child who needed extra support to thrive physically and mentally, I was seeking something to strengthen my daughter's physical, emotional and mental development.

Yoga was the changemaker!

Since then,  I have trained in many therapeutic specialisms, enabling me to share this work with children and young people; empowering them to be connected with their own true nature.

This passion has now developed into a comprehensive and inclusive service, offering a range of therapies which support children, young people and their parents/carers with their

holistic health.

I have experience of, and a dedication to supporting, children with different and special needs and abilities, 'looked after' and adopted children, and all children who would thrive with more joy, balance and connection in their lives!

I have seen such huge benefits of all of the therapies I integrate, for children in schools, community groups and individual families.

Heart of Nature Opportunities

Everything offered is flexible and most- often blended together to create something as unique and special as the child and/or family. Each is adapted and packaged up in a fun and accessible way, and to children I am never a 'therapist', and usually 'the yoga lady'!

I visit children in mainstream and special schools, community groups, at home and either offer 1:1 or group sessions,

where children can connect with one another.

Below are some of the opportunities for children and young people:

  • Creative Mindfulness Coaching (Children and Adults)

  • Infant Massage

  • Story Massage  (Mary Atkinson and Sandra Hooper)

  • Holistic Massage for Children (and adults)

Why holistic therapies for children?

An holistic approach requires an understanding that everything is interconnected. By engaging with the 'whole' individual, we can often discover the root of imbalances which can cause physical, emotional and mental challenges.  For example, imbalances in natural hormones in the brain and the body can cause disruption to sleep, mood, concentration and emotional resilience. Holistic therapies and practices such as touch, sound, mindfulness and yoga have been heavily researched, and are now scientifically proven to directly address such imbalances in children, and also build confidence, resilience and creativity. All of the therapies offered at HeartEd have their own individual benefits, and when blended together can offer the child and parent/carer opportunities to learn new tools and techniques for managing their own wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is massage for children the same as for adults?

Massage for children is always an invitation, and is adapted to what the child is comfortable with. It is offered fully clothed, and always in the presence of a parent/carer or guardian. Sometimes the child may be guided to learn massage strokes to use on themselves, and sometimes they may be open to receive massage. No oils are used. Parents/Carers and teaching staff can be shown Story Massage strokes to share with children, and parents can also be taught holistic massage strokes. In groups, peer massage is facilitated, usually sharing Story Massage, and each child is asked for consent by their peer.

There is always a comfortable option for the child to decline.

Do you offer 1:1 sessions and home/school/setting visits?

Yes. I am happy to visit the child/young person in educational settings, and at home. I encourage parents/carers and family members to join in as much as possible, so that the therapies can be continued between sessions, and also so that the child doesn't feel singled out. I also offer visits to hospitals, day care centres and hospices to visit children and families.

My child is physically disabled, can they still access your therapies?

Absolutely! ALL children can access the therapies on offer, and they are adapted to every child.

Do you offer anything for adults?

Yes! I am a fully trained Holistic Therapist and offer Holistic Massage,

EFT Tapping, Coaching, Mindfulness and Meditation to parents/carers. As a parent/carer myself, I understand how important it is to take good care of our own wellbeing.

I share wellbeing sessions with educational staff.

I visit adults in care and nursing homes, and hospices.
